Why now?
Currently, due to inflation and funding gaps for state-required programs, MAPS will be facing a significant funding challenge in 2025. Typically, districts respond to these challenges by cutting budgets and/or requesting revenue authority from voters. To maximize your tax dollars, MAPS is doing both. Today, Moorhead Area Public Schools lag behind other districts of comparable size in Minnesota in terms of voter-approved funding per student:
However, with the funds allocated by the Capital Projects Levy on the November 5 ballot, MAPS would move toward—but still be below—the median of per-student funding among similarly sized districts in the state:
