A Message from Our School Counselor

Our Monthly Theme:   WISDOM

This month we are focusing on how having wisdom helps us live our best life.

The next Grandfather Teaching we will be practicing is wisdom.

Everyone has a special gift. Show wisdom by using your gift. Wisdom is gained through experience and knowledge. To have wisdom is to know the difference between right and wrong and to apply these qualities to your daily life.

The beaver is the animal that represents wisdom.  The building of a community is entirely dependent on gifts given to each member of the community. These gifts must be utilized for the betterment of the community.  This week in our SGR community, we are practicing how important it is to share the gifts of food with others in our community who may be in need.

Students are encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items every day this week to give to families who may be going without this winter.  Fill the Dome will look different this year but the concept is the same.  Students from Moorhead High School will be coming to our school this Friday, November 19, to collect all the food SGR has brought into their classrooms.  All of the schools in the Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead communities will be participating.  The food collected will be distributed to area food pantries to help restock their shelves.

This is a wonderful opportunity to provide for the betterment of our community!  Plus, there will be a popcorn party for the class at each grade level who brings in the most food items to share with others.  COME ON SGR, SHOW YOUR SPUD PRIDE and help feed those in our community who need some help this winter season.

Let’s recognize our individual gifts and apply them to support our SGR community through being safe, respectful, responsible and kind individuals.
