The Moorhead High School spring theater production of “She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition” continues through April 30 at the Horizon Middle School Performing Arts Center.
The play follows the story of Agnes Evans, a popular and “average” high schooler whose younger (and geeky) sister, Tilly, dies in a bike accident. Realizing that she didn’t really know her kid sister, Agnes takes Tilly’s notebook to a local game shop. There, Chuck Biggs agrees to lead Agnes through Tilly’s original Dungeons and Dragons module. The compelling and hilarious play travels back and forth between Agnes’ life in high school and her quest with her sister’s character, Tillius, and Tillius’ adventure party (all created or inspired by Tilly’s fellow geeks) to find and save a lost soul.
The play’s professional staff includes local teaching theater artists, Jon Leiseth (director), Rebecca Green (Technical Director and designer) and John Goering (Assistant Technical Director and designer) and showcases the work of MHS seniors Phoenix Leiseth (costume co-designer), Flynn Korfe (assistant sound designer) and Ariel Arfalo (graphic artist).
Performances on April 27-29 start at 7 p.m. and the April 30 performance will start at 2 p.m.
General admission tickets are $11 and can be purchased online at https://moorheadschools.org/tix. Tickets will also be available at the door, but seating is limited, so patrons are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance.
