The Moorhead Area Public Schools Adult Basic Education (ABE) program hosted a recognition event in late June to celebrate the accomplishments of its students during the 2022-23 school year. The ABE program serves over 350 students from 37 countries speaking 22 different home languages.
This past year, ABE saw an increase in both on-site numbers and program hours over 2021-22. ABE students were able to interact with employers at Diversity Job Fairs twice during the year. The program also returned to the classroom at the Clay County Correctional Facility after a nearly 20-year absence.

Individual recognition was given to Theresa Hazemann from the Rural Minnesota Concentrated Employment Program. Tammy Schatz, ABE Program Manager, said Hazemann “has been the driving force to partner with Moorhead Adult Education to serve shared clients in their education and employment goals.”
The ABE program operates out of the Vista Center for Education building and offers courses for adult diplomas, computer skills, GED preparation, GED testing, english language skills, citizenship preparation, adult career pathways and specialized courses to learn a wide variety of skills. ABE is open to individuals age 17 and older who are not enrolled in another K-12 program.
