Moorhead Area Public Schools is pleased to welcome two new leaders to the district in Robert Asp Elementary Assistant Principal Lauren Knutson and Special Education Supervisor Nancy Vigen.
Knutson, who holds a B.A. in K-6 Education from Concordia College and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Moorhead State University Moorhead, returns to Moorhead Area Public Schools after spending a year in Fargo as the Assistant Principal at Liberty Elementary School. Prior to her time across the river, she was a Learning Resource Strategist and second and fourth grade teacher at S.G. Reinertsen Elementary in Moorhead.
She will supervise personnel at Robert Asp Elementary and perform a variety of duties involved in the operations including instruction and school planning.
Vigen, who holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from MSU Moorhead, continues her time with Moorhead Schools. She has spent the last 30 years in the district, with 16 years as a special educator at Robert Asp Elementary and Horizon Middle School plus 14 years as a Child Study Facilitator.
She will supervise special education programs at Horizon West and Horizon East, including staff supervision, professional development, hiring, program development and making recommendations to Learner Support Services leadership. Vigen will also have district-wide special education literacy responsibilities.
