Moorhead Area Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak has named Kelly Iverson the winner of the Spud Spirit Award for September. Kelly is a kindergarten teacher at Robert Asp Elementary; she is in her seventh school year with the district.
“Kelly, your coworkers say that you are a role model for peers and staff,” said Dr. Lunak when presenting the award. “The way that you led Robert Asp’s new kindergarten teachers through the 2022-23 school year and your passion and drive to do what is best for your students are just a couple reasons why those peers nominated you for this award.”
At Robert Asp, she has stepped into numerous leadership roles, including PLC Leader, Phonics Committee member and LETRS Trainer—among others. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree and is committed to implementing evidence-based practices and new research into her classroom to ensure her students are receiving the best education possible.
Kelly’s peers also described her as “outgoing and friendly to everyone that she meets” and “inclusive, driven and kind and makes anyone feel welcomed around her.”
