Based on the iconic movie, Legally Blonde: The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods from a pink-loving SoCal sorority girl to a Harvard law student. This high-energy musical provides catchy songs and high-energy choreography as Elle and her friends tackle stereotypes, sexism, snobbery and scandal.
“I am tickled pink to bring this Broadway tribute to girl power to the stage,” remarks director Rebecca Meyer-Larson. “Through her story, Elle Woods – played by senior CeCe Bedore – teaches us all that resilience and tenacity will never go out of style. So, get your tickets early, because this feel-good musical will be the most fashionable ticket in town!”
The cast has been mentored by Broadway veteran and Moorhead High School graduate Becky Gulsvig, who played Elle on Broadway and led the national tour as the blonde heroine. Lyrics like “I’m standing here today ‘cause you helped me find my way” have special relevance to the cast due to the influence of this Broadway star. A Moorhead Hall of Honor recipient, Gulsvig’s connection to the Spuds community has been a constant since her years on the MHS stage. She is taking time away from her current Broadway gig in A Beautiful Noise to guide the company. Her presence reflects the message inherent in Legally Blonde that, with support, no dream is too lofty.
Legally Blonde will be performed at Horizon Middle School in the Performing Arts Center November 16, 17, 18, 21, 24, 25 at 7:30 p.m and November 19th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be reserved online at www.MoorheadSchools.org/tix or by calling the Box Office at 218-284-2255.
