Moorhead Area Public Schools superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak paid a visit to Moorhead High School to award the November 2024 Spud Spirit Award to longtime MHS Marching Band Director Pam Redlinger. Mrs. Redlinger is in her 22nd year with the district.
Dr. Lunak surprised Pam with the award in front of her morning band class, telling her that her nominator credited her with having “created a marching band that Moorhead should be proud of,” adding, “Mrs. Redlinger treats her students with enthusiasm, maturity and respect. Her organization and ability to plan and communicate with students is appreciated!”
He went on to share her nominator’s praise for the marching band’s first parents performance in August. “With just eight hours of practice this summer, she had my jaw dropping at the band’s performance. Only a teacher that kids enjoy and respect could cultivate such a stellar performance in such a short time! She brings out the best in her students.”
Mrs. Redlinger’s students added praise during the ceremony, saying she was the “best band teacher” and giving her a warm round of applause when Dr. Lunak presented her with the special pin for the award.
Pam’s ability to get the most out of her band members and students continues to be a strong example of MAPS’ mission to develop the maximum potential of every student to thrive in a changing world.
