Moorhead Area Public Schools is excited to announce the addition of a new position dedicated to helping students experiencing homelessness. Amy Riccio is joining the team as a social worker and transitional student support starting Sept. 14. Amy comes to us from Fargo Public Schools and has 28 years of experience working with students who require additional support and is a Master Trauma Sensitive Schools trainer.
This professional level position was created to promote and strengthen the partnership between families and Moorhead Area Public Schools through outreach actions and building ongoing communication with students and families who are in transition with homelessness.
Riccio will assist with case management and provide collaborative support across all the district buildings, staff and programs to best serve MAPS families in transition.
Approximately 1% of students are experiencing homelessness in Moorhead Area Public Schools. This position is an important and necessary point of contact for families.
The District is committed to providing equitable opportunities for all students. The 2020-21 School Year theme “Excellence Through Equity” represents the focus on ensuring students receive the quality education they need and deserve.
