Matt Peck

Moorhead Area Public Schools is excited to welcome Matt Peck as the new assistant principal at Ellen Hopkins Elementary School.

In 2012, Peck completed his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He minored in teaching English as a second language and Spanish. After graduating, Peck spent time as an English learner teacher. He served two years as an administrative intern with Fargo Public Schools. Peck most recently was a dean of students for West Fargo Public Schools. He also earned his master's degree in educational leadership from MSUM in 2019.

Outside of work, Peck prioritizes time with his wife and two kids. They like to be outside as much as possible. His family enjoys bike rides, going to parks, swimming, fishing and weekends at the lake with extended family.

Peck is eager about his new role and grateful for the opportunity to work with students and staff at Ellen Hopkins Elementary. He says, “I can't wait to build new relationships with students, families and the team at Ellen Hopkins. I especially look forward to working creatively and collaboratively to help all students grow to their full potential both academically and socially-emotionally.”

Enthusiastic for the new school year and hopeful of this year’s upcoming success, Peck says, “We've all learned a lot about safety, flexibility, resilience and creativity over the past year and a half. Overcoming those challenges and coming through with new perspectives and new ways to stay connected as a school community will no doubt make the upcoming school year a successful one. Go Spuds!”
