Janelle Frost-Geiser, social studies teacher, retired after 32 years at Moorhead Area Public Schools. Janelle worked at Moorhead Junior High and Horizon Middle School. One of her favorite memories was coaching volleyball alongside her daughters, Madison and Shania!
During her years at MAPS, Janelle created a curriculum that was based on the video game “Civilization” and presented it at a national convention. She also started the school’s annual Washington D.C. trip.
In her retirement, she is looking forward to spending winters in Arizona!🌞
United Way helps students feel confident and prepared when they walk through the doors on their first day of school. Their goal is to provide local students with a backpack and set of school supplies through the generosity of the community. They are accepting donations at various drop off locations through July 29. Do you recognize any faces from the SPUD newspaper staff from 1977? The biggest goal for the school newspaper that year was to act as a bridge between school and community members. To reach this goal, they sent each issue to all students' parents for the year. In total, postage only cost $35!

Kim Brosdahl retired from Moorhead Area Public Schools after 11 years. She worked as a substitute teacher before starting at Moorhead High School as a foods and English teacher. She finished up her career as an English teacher for Spud Academy.
Kim loved seeing students discover talents in new areas. She misses daily interaction with students and spending time with her colleagues. In retirement, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and substitute teaching!
"I am very thankful for the wonderful time I worked in the district. It has been a gift and a calling that I discovered in my later professional years," Kim says.

Congratulations to Charles Jordan, who recently retired from Moorhead Area Public Schools. He spent his last four years as a paraprofessional at Horizon Middle School West and Spud Academy.
Charles said, "I arrived at Moorhead Schools in the sunset of my career, but it has been a very good place to finish up my 32 years of teaching and paraprofessional work."
His favorite memories were trips to the Fergus Falls outdoor nature preserve, special events in the classroom and helping teachers. In retirement, Charles is excited to travel around the US and abroad and spend time at his family's cabin in Wisconsin.
