We just heard this heartwarming story… and we can’t help but share it! Before the holiday season began, teacher Chad Durand and his 4th grade students at Dorothy Dodds wanted to spread some kindness and cheer to others in the community. As many people know, our senior population that resides in nursing homes and assisted living facilities have faced many difficulties throughout the pandemic. Whether it be from restrictions or difficulty traveling, many have not been able to see their families and loved ones as much as they’d like, which is especially hard during the holiday season. Because of this, Durand’s students went to work writing letters and designing ornaments to send to seniors at Farmstead Living to brighten their day! Durand’s students were inspired by the feeling of helping others and couldn’t wait to give their gifts. One student truly described it best, “When you fill somebody else’s bucket, you also fill your own.” 🧡🖤 Our Spud students never fail to inspire us with their kindness and heart!

Governor Walz has proclaimed this week as Paraprofessional Recognition Week! We want to give a huge thank you to our paraprofessionals who have helped so much through the pandemic by supporting students, assisting in virtual learning, delivering meals, working through staffing shortages and much more. Did you know that National Honor Society students at Moorhead High School organize the Spud Closet? This closet has clothing, non-perishable food items, hygiene products, school supplies and more that are anonymously accessible to any student in need. Currently, the Spud closet is running low on some essential items such as winter gear and non-perishable food items. If you would like to help, donations can be dropped off at the front office of MHS!

This window mural was painted by Jorddan and her sister to add brightness and personality to the hallways! Many staff and students admire her work as they walk the halls to class.
