Robert Asp Elementary

Asp Families,

Eid Mubarak! It’s a big week for our families who have been observing Ramadan the last month, culminating with Eid this week. We have been incredibly impressed with our students who have fasted during the month, whether just a day or the entire month. Super awesome! In observance of the holiday there will NOT be school this Wednesday, April 10. We hope it’s an awesome day! Other notes for the week include:

  • Excel: We do NOT have Excel on Tuesday due to NO SCHOOL on Wednesday. We will, however, have it on Thursday.

  • Weekly Focus: This week we’re focusing on apologies, both how to give and receive them. It’s super important to learn both because it’s how we repair relationships and move forward after any incident or disagreement, whether accidental or intentional. We’ll talk about the importance of owning our actions, as well as what we’ll do moving forward because while sorry is good, change is better!

  • 4th Grade Family Note: You are invited to Horizon West on the evening of April 16th for a family information night. Please click this link for more information for this event. If you have not completed your 5th grade music registration for your student, please complete that now by clicking here. To learn more about Choir, Orchestra, Band and Exploratory Music classes, please go to https://tinyurl.com/ 2u9btrh2. Please reach out to Horizon administration or music teachers with any questions. They would like all students to be registered before the end of the school year!

  • Great Plains Food Bank: Check out this link if you’re looking for a food distribution event the next 5 months or so

  • MetroCOG: The FM Regional Transportation Planning Organization, Metro COG, will be observing drop off and pick up at all district sites this month. They will be observing at Asp this Tuesday, April 9. Additionally, we’d greatly appreciate it if everyone could complete this survey through Google Forms about how your child gets to/from school. It takes about 5-10 minutes and they’ve extended the date until April 12 (disregard the March 31 date). Thanks!

  • Winter Gear: We hope most kids brought their winter gear home last week, but if not, try to bring it home this week! We should be done with snow now, so really it’s just a matter of watching for rain! And if you’re missing anything, encourage your child to check out our Lost & Found!
