Asp Families,
After an overcast, rainy week last week it’s great to see the sun today. But as a few kids have shared, April showers bring May flowers, which means we should expect the rain. So we’ll plan on being outside for Active in the morning and Recess during the day, but if it is raining we’ll walk laps inside to get some movement in for all kids. In other news:
Earth Day: Tomorrow is Earth Day! Assuming the weather is as nice as advertised, we’ll have classes outside picking up litter to help keep our planet as healthy as we can. Our weekly focus will be on why this is important and what we can do to maintain that health!
MCA Testing: Testing continues this week for our 3rd and 4th grade students, and teachers in those grades have shared their schedules. And while we always want students to get great nights of sleep (9+ hours, no screens before bed, etc), healthy breakfasts, and be on time, it’s especially important this week for students in those grades. Tests don’t define students, but they are a good measuring stick in comparison to the rest of the state.
STEM Night: This week on Tuesday, April 23, from 6:00-7:30 pm we’ll have our annual STEM Night Family Event at Asp. It’s a great night of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fun for FREE! We’ll have plenty of activities for students and families to do together. And just like at our family event last month, PTAC will have food for sale in the cafeteria, if interested. Come anytime and stay as long as you’d like!
Did you know? Speaking of PTAC, did you know that they are the main supporters of our yearly musical put on by our 3rd/4th grade students? The funds raised at events like our school carnival and walk-a-thon are used to support our students in a variety of way, and the musical is one of those events. But to keep this going, we’re going to need more parents to get involved. PTAC board member terms are up in May, so without new members it’ll be tough to keep things going. Consider getting involved, thanks!
NO SCHOOL/EXCEL: There is NO SCHOOL this Friday, April 26. It is the last PD day of the year for our teaching staff. This means that there will also be NO EXCEL on Thursday, April 25. We WILL have EXCEL on Tuesday, though!
As always, it’s going to be a busy week! Have an awesome day!
Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Knutson, principals
