Robert Asp Elementary

Asp Families,

Welcome to May, almost! We have four full weeks left, which means we have 20 days to make an impact. And for our 4th graders, 20 days to leave a legacy. It’s going to be an exciting 20 days! Some notes this week:

  • Weekly Focus: Integrity & Honesty. Being honest with ourselves and others, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. We talked about both a lot in February during Giraffe Hero month, and we’re bringing them back again because they are that important.

  • ABC Start: For the last 4 weeks of school we’re dropping the C (calm) from ABC start. Starting tomorrow students will only have the option of Active (outside on playground) or Breakfast if they arrive before the first bell at 7:35.

  • Family Engagement Activities: In the last six weeks we’ve had some family engagement activities, like conferences, StoryPalooza, STEM Night, and some music programs. We want your feedback, so we created a survey. Please complete the survey either online, or on paper. Some classes sent home the paper copy of the survey last Thursday, others will send it home tomorrow. Again, either online or on paper doesn’t matter to us, we just appreciate your feedback either way. Thanks!

  • Did you know? Many of the fun activities that happen throughout the year are either PTAC led or funded. Book Fairs? Led by PTAC. 4th Grade Day of Compassion? Funded by PTAC. Popsicles at school Block Party on the last day of school? Funded by PTAC. Soccer Nets? Funded by PTAC. Playground Equipment? Funded by PTAC. Walk-a-thon? PTAC. School Carnival? Led by PTAC to raise funds for PTAC for everything mentioned. Why do we keep sharing this? Because all of that is only possible with the support and leadership of you, the families of our students. Without your involvement in PTAC, the above things don’t happen. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 pm in the Asp media center, which happens to be the same day as the 4th grade All-City Track Meet (ribbons provided by PTAC). Please come to the meeting to learn more about all things PTAC! Or, if you have any questions in the meantime, please email them!

  • Student Placement: Every year we share this OPTIONAL form that any parent can fill out if they’d like to provide us with some information to help guide our student placements next year. As we always say, we DISCOURAGE requesting specific teachers for multiple reasons. However, we love and appreciate any information that you think we might find helpful as we build our rosters. We work closely with our teachers as well, and together we’ll take all information into consideration as we build balanced classrooms.

  • Boundary Exceptions: If you are attending Asp on a Boundary Exception and would like to continue doing so, you’ll need to complete this form. If Asp is your natural boundary school, though, you do NOT need to complete this.

It’s going to be another awesome week!
