Robert Asp Elementary

Asp Families,

Wow! That’s all we can say, just Wow! Such a simple word, but so very powerful. It can be used to describe everything on the list below, starting with last Friday:

  • Walk-A-Thon: The first Wow! is for our Walk-A-Thon last Friday. As of Sunday morning we have raised over $8,000, which blew away our goal of $6,000. THANK YOU! Our kids and staff had a blast with the event, just so much fun. As principals we’re a little nervous, though, because we said we’d get PIEd in the face if we broke that goal, so we guess we’ll need to bring some spare clothes… We’re still collecting donations until midnight tonight, so if you want to donate but haven’t yet had the chance, here’s the link again. We’ll tabulate the individual and class donation winners after that and then share with everyone.

  • Robert Asp Staff: Our second Wow! is for the staff at Asp. Whether it is your family’s first year at Asp, your tenth year, or anything in between, you probably feel the same way, too. Over 88% of our families who responded to our building family engagement survey noted that they strongly agree with the statement “I feel valued as a partner in my child’s education,” which speaks directly to some of the amazing work our staff puts in with the students and families at Asp. We value the partnerships with you as well and will continue to in the future!

  • Robert Asp Students: Our third Wow! is for the students at Asp. We have so many students who work hard, treat each other and the adults with kindness and respect, and own their actions. Not only that, but the students respond positively to feedback and guidance because they want to grow as individuals, which is awesome. We’re so proud of your kids and can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish in the future, whether at Asp or elsewhere!

  • Robert Asp Families: Our last Wow! in today’s weekly email is for you, our families. As noted previously, many of you feel valued as partners in your child’s education, and we feel the same. We can’t stress enough the importance of strong, collaborative relationships between home and school. The saying, “It takes a village” is true and only works when that village is staff/students/families working together!

  • Last Day: Our last day of school is this Friday, May 24. PLEASE NOTE - We are again releasing 2 hours early across the district that day for graduation. This means that our school day ends at 12:30 pm on Friday! We’re having our annual Asp Block Party as a school that day and will make sure all students have time to eat lunch by noon.

  • Clap Out: On the last day we’ll also Clap Out our 4th graders. Parents are welcome to watch and help Clap Out as well, starting in our lobby and then onto the sidewalk in front of the building. We’ll start at about 12:05, so plan accordingly! This is always a Wow! event!

  • District Survey: MAPS is interested in hearing from you to make district communication even better next year. Please complete this survey. It will take less than 5 minutes from what we’ve been told!

Thank you again for an amazing first year at Asp! We have loved every minute of it, and can’t wait for next year. Before that, though, we hope that you all enjoy an AWESOME summer!

Bye! See ya!

Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Knutson, principals
