Investing in Progress

On August 12, the Moorhead Area Public Schools’ Board voted to place a capital projects levy on the November 5 ballot. The levy will address critical needs in technology, facilities, curriculum and transportation across the district.

The proposed levy will generate approximately $4.3 million annually over ten years. Funds will be used to upgrade school facilities, improve safety measures, and enhance educational technology and curriculum ensuring students have access to modern learning tools and safe environments.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Curriculum Enhancements: Investing in new innovative programing and staff training to optimize student learning and staff professional development.

  • Facility Improvements: Addressing deferred maintenance projects, including roofing, HVAC systems, and security enhancements across 11 district facilities.

  • Technology Investments: Replacement of outdated devices, software upgrades, and maintenance of digital systems to support innovative learning.

  • Transportation Updates: Replacement of aging buses and vans to maintain a safe and reliable transportation fleet for students.

Superintendent Dr. Brandon Luank emphasized the importance of the levy, stating, "This funding is crucial for providing our students with the resources they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We are committed to maintaining high educational standards and ensuring our schools are equipped for the future."
