Robert Asp Elementary

Asp Families,

Happy Labor Day weekend! We had an AWESOME first week of school, thank you very much! Everyone was a little tired by Friday, so hopefully you’re getting a great chance to rest and recover this weekend, as well as refresh for the upcoming week. Some additional notes for the upcoming week:

  • Picture Day: This Friday, September 6, is School Picture Day. If interested, photos can be ordered using the paper envelopes or online! Pre-ordering is only available online. All students will have their picture taken, regardless of whether you order photos or not. We’ll start right away in the morning and our goal is to get all students photographed before lunch, recess and PE so that hair/clothes look as great as you’d like them for photos. Obviously we want everyone here by the start of the school day at 7:45, but if you are running late we’ll still work to get your child photographed that day. Makeups generally are held in October.

  • Parking Lot: If you dropped off or picked up last week, you saw our 4th grade school patrol working hard to keep everyone (kids & adults) safe. Thank you, school patrol!! They work hard to teach all of our students how to cross the parking lot and/or intersections safely, but it takes a team effort. If you could please help out by also talking with your child and demonstrating how to cross safely at the designated areas, we’d appreciate it greatly! The more practice our kids have, the more routine it will be and the safer they’ll be. Thank you!

  • Weekly Focus: Speaking of routines, our focus this week continues to be on establishing routines and procedures at school and within our classrooms. We’ll be talking about AB start, lunch, hallways, the BEs (BE respectful, BE responsible, BE safe, BE kind), etc.

  • Dropoff Routine: Another part of establishing routines is separating at the front door, if you’re dropping off. Please continue working with your child on that, and if you need help, ask one of our adults in the lobby. If students arrive prior to 7:35 we’ll help them get to either breakfast in the cafeteria or to active recess on the playground. After 7:35 we’ll help them to their classroom.

Remember, no school tomorrow due to the Labor Day holiday, so we’ll see you on Tuesday for a 4-day week!
