Asp Families,
Thank you to everyone who came to StoryPalooza last week! It was an awesome time, and so fun to see all of our kids and families who attended. Thank you so much! Other items of note this week:
No School Monday: Monday is Veterans’ Day, a day in which we honor those who have served our country, so there will be No School. Thank you!
Weekly Focus: We’ll start the week focusing on one of our expectations, Be Safe. We’ll do this by practicing our Options-Based Lockdown Drill on Tuesday & Wednesday morning. By state statute we need to hold five of these drills each school year, along with our fire/evacuation drills. Teachers lead their own classes through a discussion on how we need to respond in emergency situations. While all classes discuss the same basic ideas/options, how they talk about it varies by grade, so the discussion in our kindergarten rooms won’t be the same as it is in our 4th grade rooms. Then later in the week and all of next week we’ll focus on the 7 Grandfathers Teachings! We’ll hit Respect and Love this week, and then the other five next week.
Warm Clothing: It’s only been a few weeks since conferences, but our Lost & Found is filling up again. If you are missing something, please encourage your child to look for it. Also, we still strongly encourage you to write your LAST NAME on the tags of every coat, hat, glove, boot, sweatshirt, and anything else your child might consider removing at some point during the school day. We can generally get labeled items to the correct classroom for your child.
PTAC Meeting: This week is our PTAC Meeting! We’ll be meeting at SWING BARREL this Thursday, November 14, from 6-7 pm. Please swing on by!
Fill the Dome: Our K-Kids leadership group will be leading the charge for the annual F-M food drive again this year. Start stocking up on non-perishable items that can be donated. They are going to be talking to our students this week about some friendly competition to encourage students and kids to donate to this wonderful event, and then we’ll share information with families.
As noted above, it is Veterans’ Day tomorrow, and we are grateful for all of you who have served, or are currently serving, in one of our military branches. Thank you!!!
Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Knutson, principals
