ASP Weekly Family Note

Asp Families,

Happy Sunday! We hope the warm weather treated you well this weekend. Looks like it’s going to dip again this week, so make sure the kids are bundled! Some notes for the week:

  • Cold Temperatures: As we’ve shared a couple of times previously, we go outside for recess all the time until we hit certain benchmarks (0 air temp, -10 windchill). When it’s colder than that, we stay inside. NEW THIS YEAR - We also need to keep our school patrol students inside at those times as well. We appreciate their help always, but we need them to be just as safe as everyone else. What does this mean? It means that we’d still love morning patrols to come in at the same time as always, but instead of patrolling outside they will patrol inside. Our walking loop gets a little crowded when we can’t go outside, so we need their help patrolling it. If it’s too cold for afternoon patrols, though, we’ll either have them do their normal routine, or they can wait in the lobby to be picked up. For our walking students - we’ll only have adults outside at the 11th St crossings, as well as the 10th St/Parking Lot Exit crossings. There will not be kids at other spots, so please be aware. Thanks!

  • Paraprofessionals: Want to work in a fun school environment with your kids? Or do you know someone who would? If so, please consider applying (or encouraging someone to apply) for a job as a paraprofessional at our school! See this link for more information!

  • eLearning Days: As you saw last week, if we feel like there is a chance for an eLearning Day, we’re going to send chromebooks home with kids. We’ll also send a text so that you are aware that the chromebooks are in backpacks, just like we did last week. Also like last week, sending chromebooks home doesn’t mean it’s going to be an eLearning Day, but it might be so please be ready. Finally, linked is some eLearning Day guidance for the future. Thanks!

  • Weekly Focus: Celebrating Diversity! We’re going to talk about what makes us unique and special. We’ll have kids bring home an All About Me survey that we’d love you to work on with them, and then send back so they can share with their classmates if comfortable!

  • Dress Up Days: We’re going to have some fun, winter dress up days next week (Dec 16-20), so watch for a flyer this week with the daily theme. Like Homecoming, we try to keep it fun, yet simple, so that everyone can participate if they want!

It’s going to be another awesome week!
