ASP Weekly Family Note

Asp Families,

Happy Sunday! Just another classic sub-zero day in January in Minnesota. Hopefully you are all staying warm and safe today. We have just a few notes for this week:

  • MLK Jr Day: Tomorrow, Monday, January 20, is MLK Jr. Day! There will be NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow. We’ll see you all on Tuesday. And please remind your child if they ride the bus to come inside as soon as they get off the bus everyday, but especially on Tuesday when we know that there won’t be outside Active time to start the day. Thanks!

  • Morning Drop-off: As many of you who drop off kids in the morning have seen, it can get pretty busy and crowded, especially on the colder days when nobody is walking. To help ease congestion for everyone, please remember to park in a designated parking spot in the middle of the lot if you need to walk your kid to the door or if you just want to hang out for a minute after they get out of the car. Curb spots are designed quick “drop off and go” spots that should move quickly. If you have a relative or friend dropping off who doesn’t normally drop off, please help us by sharing this information with them. Thanks!

  • Attendance: It’s that time of year when we talk about attendance. First, attendance at school is important, as you can read in the linked PDFs, even on cold days like this week. On the flip side, though, to help reduce spreading germs, our district policy is that students should be fever and vomit free for 24 hours. In short, please keep your child home when ill, but then send them every other day. Thanks!

  • Looking Ahead: We’re going to try something new with a longer range “Looking Ahead” bullet point to help with some long range planning. More information for everything will be shared in the future, either with everyone in our weekly email or just with specific grades.

    • 2nd grade family activity: February 14

    • 3rd grade musical: February 27

    • Conferences: March 4, 6, 10

    • 4th grade musical: March 27

    • STEM/Math night: April 10

Enjoy MLK Jr. Day tomorrow, stay warm, and we’ll see you on Tuesday!
