Robert Asp Elementary Weekly Family Note Header

Asp Families,

Happy Groundhog Day! It sounds like the most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow this morning, which means 6 more weeks of winter. Well, maybe, as it also sounds like he’s only been correct in his prediction a third of the time in the last 20 years. Regardless, with cold weather and snow forecast for this week, students should still come to school with all of their gear and be prepared for anything! Some other notes this week:

  • No School: There is no school this Friday, February 7, due to a staff PD day. The state focus on LETRS and reading instruction is awesome, but also requires a lot of work and coordination from the district, hence the late starts and PD days.

  • Excel: For students in Excel, there will be Excel this Tuesday, February 4, as regularly scheduled. However, there will NOT be Excel on Thursday, February 6, due to the aforementioned no school day on Friday.

  • Weekly Focus: February is Black History Month! Our focus this week will be on the importance of Black History Month.

  • Conferences: Spring family/teacher conferences will be next month, March 4, 6, & 10 from 4:00-7:30 pm. PowerPTC will open next week on February 10 for families to schedule conferences during that time.

  • Asp Yearbook 24-25: We will also soon be sharing information regarding this year’s yearbook, including how to purchase. Right now we just want it on your radar, as well as to remind you that students need to have the appropriate media release to be included in the yearbook. If you are unsure, please connect with our main office.

Again, welcome to February, it’s going to be an awesome month!
