Asp Families,
Happy March! It’s such a fun month because the weather always keeps us guessing - Will we be freezing cold and buried in snow? Will 70s, sun and shorts appear? Somewhere in the middle? I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Regardless, we’ll be outside if it’s warm enough and not raining, so plan accordingly. Sending an extra pair of socks in your child’s backpack would be great because students regularly end up with wet feet and unfortunately we don’t have any extras in the health office. Some additional notes for this busy week:
Late Start Wednesday: This Wednesday, March 5, is a planned late start. Buses and doors will be two hours late, but the end of the day will remain the same.
Excel: There is NO EXCEL this week or next due to conferences and spring break. Please make sure your child knows and you have a plan for after school those days. Excel will resume in two weeks on March 18.
Weekly Focus: This week and next we’re focusing on the STEPs of Problem Solving. Each day this week we’ll talk about what each of the letters in STEP stand for when problem solving.
Conferences: Spring family/teacher conferences start this week, March 4, 6, & 10 from 4:00-7:30 pm. You can still schedule conferences on PowerPTC if you haven’t already, up to 24 hours before the conference date. Also, please note that the focus for these conferences is on your child and their work with their classroom teachers. Special Education teachers will only be available March 4 & March 10, and only before or after your regularly scheduled conference. PE, Music, and Art teachers are available all days before and after all days as well. Thanks!
Book Fair: Our PTAC Book Fair will be set up near the main entrance in room 102 this week. It is the room closest to the main entrance in our kindergarten hallway. We’ll have signs up to direct traffic, but wanted to give the early heads up. And as you saw, we were able to get books early so that it’ll be open each night of conferences! Thank you, PTAC!!
Sign-Up Geniuses: Our PTAC is looking for some help at the above Book Fair, as well as helping with our Silent Auction this spring. Please click the links below to see how you can help!
Lost & Found: We’ll also have our Lost & Found set up in the main lobby this week and next. Please look for your child’s lost items when you are here for conferences. Anything left at Spring Break will be donated. Thanks!
Transportation App: Have you ever wondered where your child’s bus is? If yes, you now have an opportunity to track it! Starting today, download the Edulog Portal Parent App and search for “Robert Asp Elementary” to get started (see links for full details and FAQ). Some benefits of downloading the app:
GPS of bus route
Push Notifications when bus is close to the stop
Works for all routes (regular and SPED) that run at normal bell times (shortened day routes aren’t available for this feature)
Reminders when late starts
Shared custody/homes? Contact our transportation department!
Again, click the above links for more information!
Yearbook: It’s time to order this year’s yearbook! Here’s the link to order them online ($15). Select state, then city, and then our school to get to the Asp yearbook. The deadline for ordering is March 21, 2025. Also, for students to be in the yearbook we need to have a media release in PowerSchool. Most families do, but some either have it as a “No” or have left it blank. If yours is a “No” or is blank, your child cannot be in the yearbook. If you’ve seen your child on Instagram, they are good to go. If you’re unsure, connect with the office.
If you made it this far, thank you! It’s going to be a busy, but awesome week, and we hope to see you!
Mr. St. Louis and Mrs. Knutson, principals
