ASP Weekly Family Note

Asp Families,

Happy Sunday! We hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. Remember, there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Monday, April 21. We’ll resume classes on Tuesday with 28 days left in the school year. While we’re nearing the end, that’s still 16% of the school year, which means a lot of work to still do to improve our skills. Reading, math, writing, singing, running, drawing, emotional regulation, etc., will all still be worked on these last 6 weeks of school. We can only teach these skills to your child, though, if they are here and on time. Please continue working to make that happen! Some other notes for the week:

  • Reading at Home: Like attendance at school, reading at home is another important way to build skills. A minimum of 10 minutes daily (20 mins for 2nd grade, 30 for 3rd, 40 for 4th) is all it takes. That can include your child either reading to someone, or listening to someone else read. We encourage all families to read together!

  • Weekly Focus: Tuesday is Earth Day! If the rain holds off, we’ll likely have some classes outside picking up litter to help keep our planet as healthy as we can. Our weekly focus will be on why this is important and what we can do to maintain that health!

  • Vote for the Spuds: Sports Illustrated is holding their annual National Mascot Tournament and the Spuds have advanced to the national quarterfinals—now they need your help to go all the way! Cast your vote before Monday at 11 p.m. to get Moorhead to the Final Four. You can vote five times per day per device.

  • Make Your Voice Heard: The district wants to hear from you about our communication efforts this year. Please take a few minutes and fill out this Communications Pulse Survey so we can work on providing the best communication to you going forward.

  • Pop-Up Pantry: This Thursday, April 24, is another Pop-Up Pantry. Check out this link for more info!

  • Lunch Hero Spirit Week: Next week, starting on Monday, 4/28, is School Lunch Hero Week! We will again encourage students and staff to participate in our School Lunch Hero Spirit Week. Next week, each day will have a theme that has been selected by our food service staff. Make sure to dress in your best to match the day's theme.

    • Monday - Pajama Day

    • Tuesday - Dress Like your Favorite Food Day

    • Wednesday - Mismatch Day

    • Thursday - Dress Like Spuddy Day

    • Friday - Super Hero Day

As you can see, it’s going to be another busy week. Let’s make it great!
