Hello Ellen Hopkins families,
We really enjoyed seeing so many of you at family conferences in October! We appreciate partnering with you to support your child's growth and learning! Overall we had 85% of our Hopkins families attend conferences! Thank you for supporting your child and our team here at Ellen Hopkins. Please know that you can reach out to our teachers at any time via phone, email or you can schedule a time with the teacher to stop in to visit.
A Well-Rested Child is Ready to Learn: Lots of families ask us how they can support their learners at home. One really important thing to do is to have a regular bedtime routine for your child. Set a bedtime and stick to it. About an hour before bedtime, start to wind down with a bath or shower, brushing teeth, getting clothes/gear set out for the next day and reading or relaxing. Limit TV and video games for at least an hour before bedtime. Make sure your child's sleeping area is quiet, dark and free from distractions like TVs or phones. Even if your child can't fall asleep, continue to follow the regular routine and encourage them to rest in bed even if they are having trouble drifting off. It is recommended for our students to get at least nine to eleven hours of sleep each night. Ideal bedtimes would look like 7 pm for kindergarten and 1st grade students, 7:30-8 pm for 2nd and 3rd graders, and no later than 9:00 pm for fourth graders. Sleep has a very positive effect on learning for our kids!
Your Opinion Matters: Please take a few moments to fill out our Ellen Hopkins First Quarter Family Survey. You know your child best and we want to know how we are doing so we can improve! Thanks for your time!
No School: Reminder that there is no school on Monday, November 11. School will also be closed November 27, 28, and 29.
