Welcome families - Kindergarten enrollment begins here! We are here to ensure you have all of the information you need to set your child up for a positive first learning experience. Children who are five years old on or before September 1 are eligible to begin kindergarten.

Below you will find a kindergarten checklist. This outlines all of the steps to complete enrollment.

  1. Complete online kindergarten registration. After initial processing of your registration, you will receive an email and letter in the mail with additional kindergarten information.

  2. Complete Early Childhood Screening. Please call the Moorhead Area Public Schools Community Education Office to learn more 218-284-3400 or visit Early Childhood Screening Registration to register. All children are required to complete an Early Childhood Screening prior to enrolling in kindergarten.

    1. Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or Passport

    2. Provide current, accurate and valid proof of district residency. Examples include: mortgage statement, utility bill, lease agreement, etc.

      • NOTICE: SUBMISSION OF PROOF OF IDENTITY AND PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED BEFORE ENROLLMENT REQUEST IS PROCESSED.

    3. Current Immunization Records (click here to see what is required for students to have)

    4. All legal custody documents if applicable

  4. Attend Keys to Kindergarten. This event will be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Keys to Kindergarten offers children important school readiness activities that improve academic, social and emotional skills. This class is for children living in the Moorhead School District who will be attending kindergarten in the Fall of 2025 and their parents. This will be a great opportunity for kindergarten families to see their elementary school, meet staff and teachers and ask any questions or concerns you might have. Please choose the elementary building closest to your residence or if you know which building your child will attend, you may choose that one. Programs will be the same at all elementary buildings.
