A Message from the Principal

Hello Ellen Hopkins families!

Each day here at Hopkins we spend ten to fifteen minutes each day having a “Morning Meeting” in each of our classrooms. During this month of April we will spend a few minutes each day talking about healthy choices. I would encourage you to spend some time at home talking about these healthy habits:

  • The first habit we will focus on is to think about your FOOD. We will encourage the students to eat fruit and veggies to help fuel the brain and body.
  • The second habit we will focus on is motivating your MOOD. We will spend a few days talking about how important it is to stop and think before making a choice to make sure it is respectful, responsible and safe.
  • The third habit we will focus on is to MOVE your body. Our fourth graders will be encouraging the students to be active as many times as possible throughout the day such as through a walk or bike ride after school instead of electronics.
  • The final habit we will focus on is to RECHARGE your energy. One of the best ways to recharge is through sleep. We will be talking about how important it is to get nine to twelve hours of sleep each night and taking time each day to recharge without a screen.

Thanks for all you do at home to support these healthy habits!
