POWERSCHOOL REGISTRATION
Parents please complete your Powerschool registration prior to the start of school. If you have questions, please contact our front office 218-284-4300.
PARENT-TEACHER MEETING
Watch for a notification Friday, August 20, with the date and time of a back-to-school meeting with your child's teacher. If there’s a conflict with the time, please contact the front office at 218-284-4300 to reschedule. United Way has donated backpacks filled with school supplies if needed. These will be available upon request at Ellen Hopkins during the parent-teacher meeting.
ENTRY DOORS
Kindergarteners and their older siblings will enter through Door 11 near the playground.
Grades 1-4 will enter the Main Door 1. Bussed students will enter through Door 5. Students will be able to grab a breakfast at their entry door to eat in their classroom.
SCHOOL HOURS
The school day is from 7:55 AM - 2:40 PM. We encourage students to be brought to school each morning with enough time to grab a breakfast, stop at their lockers, and be in their classroom ready to learn before the final bell rings at 7:55 AM. Any student arriving after 7:55 AM will need to check in at the office. Students who are parent pick-up at the end of the day must be picked up by 2:45 PM.
ATTENDANCE
Sick child? Family vacation? Don’t forget to let the office know! Parents/guardians must notify the school each day before 9 a.m. when a student will not be attending for any reason. Please call the Hopkins Attendance Line at 218-284-4301 or submit the student’s absence through PowerSchool. If you leave a message, please specify your child’s name, teacher and the reason for the absence. You also may choose to call or email your child’s teacher to report an absence, but reporting the absence to the office is required. If your child is absent due to illness for more than three consecutive days or 12 days per school year, a doctor’s statement may be required. If the parent/guardian does not notify the school within two days of the student’s return to school, the absences will remain unexcused. Students who arrive at school after 7:55 a.m. for any reason, must come to the office for a tardy slip before going to class. If a student is leaving early for any reason, you MUST have your state issued ID to sign them out on LobbyGuard. More information on policies can be found in the student handbook.
