Join the fun at the Ellen Hopkins Elementary Nature Play Park community gardens and fruit orchard this summer!
The gardens and trees are next to the running track and the Moorhead Parks hockey rinks or just east of the snow hill. Each year several classrooms start seeds for the gardens and plant the gardens before the end of the school year. The garden’s additional plants and supplies are supported by donations.
The orchard and community gardens are looking for individuals and families interested in caring for the space over the summer. People of all ages, interests, and abilities are welcome to join in the fun, work in the garden, watch things grow, and enjoy the bounty. If you or you’re family are interested in volunteering to help in the gardens, please email Heather Nesemeier at hnesemeier@gmail.com or message the Ellen Hopkins Elementary Nature Play Park (@EHESNPP) on Facebook.
The gardens have enjoyed many years at Hopkins and have worked with students, teachers, parents, PTAC, EXCEL, the YMCA, Master Gardeners, 4H, the Enrichment Operation, and more to keep the gardens and orchard growing. If you have a group (e.g. Scout, church, elder, etc.) interested in some community service hours, please reach out.
