Horizon Middle School student Claire Haberman was selected to be in the Minnesota Band Directors Association All-State Band. She was selected through an audition process and played in the band on April 15. Congratulations Claire, we are proud of your accomplishments! #SpudPride


Our Spuds got to be Dragons: these Horizon Middle School fifth graders got to be a part of the Dragon Honor Band with students from other schools and performed in a concert at MSUM—with only a couple of hours of rehearsal! Great Job to these students! #SpudPride

A big congratulations to Horizon Middle School Orchestra members Sienna Lee and Ubin Kim for being named to the 2023 Minnesota Middle Level Honors Orchestra. Sienna and Ubin completed a rigorous application process and are two of just 50 students across the entire state of Minnesota selected for this honor. Way to go! #SpudPride


Newroz is the Kurdish celebration of the arrival of spring and a new year. Mrs. Mustafa and Mrs. Ibrahim created a Horizon West media center window display to showcase this holiday and help students learn about Kurdish culture.





Moorhead public and non-public schools and buses will start two hours late on April 6. There will be no morning Early Intervention Services, JumpStart or Community Education classes. Before-school activities are canceled.


All Moorhead public and non-public schools, including Community Education classes, are closed April 5. All before-school, after-school and evening activities are canceled.
The make-up day for this storm day will extend the school year one day. Tuesday, May 30 will become the last student day for the school year.


Reminder: All Moorhead public and non-public schools will dismiss 2 hours early April 4. There will be no afternoon Early Intervention Services and JumpStart. Afternoon and evening Community Education classes and after-school and evening activities are canceled.


Due to the timing of the scheduled snow event, we are planning to hold school tomorrow, April 4 with a two hour early release to get students home before the wind picks up. Please stay tuned for further weather announcements.
