Kindness Week is here!
This is a week to celebrate kindness and be intentional about being kind. Whether it is something we do or say, the act of being kind is powerful. We can truly make a difference and inspire hope in others by being kind. Kindness is often not monetary, and we can pay it forward in many different ways. A compliment, an encouraging word, a fist bump, a smile, or asking someone how their day is going are all ways we can show people we care.
We are challenging all students to show kindness this week, see poster for details! The week ends with national Random Acts of Kindness Day on Friday February 17th! To participate, intentionally complete a small act of kindness- remember a little thing like a smile or compliment can go a long ways!
Our school-wide morning announcements will focus on the six core concepts of kindness: respect, caring, inclusiveness, responsibility, integrity, and courage. These concepts are the key to kindness. Students will read stories and share examples with their classmates of how they display each concept at school and at home.
Throughout January and February, students in all grades have been learning about Empathy and Kindness. Empathy is feeling or understanding how somebody else is feeling. Kindness is when we put our empathy into action. Through daily announcements and social/emotional lessons in the classroom, all students have been able to learn about, show, and practice empathy and kindness.
Help us celebrate Kindness Week by dressing up, doing the daily kindness challenge, or participating in Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Stay Positive!
