SGR Families,
It’s finally starting to feel like spring around here! We had a few days last week that were absolutely gorgeous, and now we’re getting some rain. As a quick reminder, we’ll be outside for recess if it’s not raining, but inside if it is. Additionally, any outdoor field trips or events that are canceled due to inclement weather will NOT be rescheduled. Let’s hope for more of the dry, sunny, comfortable weather that we enjoyed last week! We have just a few notes this week:
Finish Strong: Our last monthly theme of the year is Finish Strong. We’ve been talking about it in our classrooms and on our morning principal video. As always, we’d love you to have conversations with your child(ren) regularly this month about what it means to finish strong and what they’re doing to make it happen! For our 4th graders that can mean reflecting on their time at SGR and leaving a legacy that they’re proud of!
Excel: We have 2 more weeks of Excel, this week and next. The last day for Excel will be Thursday, May 18!
BOGO Book Fair: Our SGR PTAC is hosting our annual May BOGO book fair this week! Buy 1 book, Get 1 free! This is a great way to get some books for summer reading. They’ll be hosting it in the lobby by door 13 (by the gym/cafeteria) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3-6 pm. Stop in and get some books! They are also looking for volunteers, so click on this link if you can help. Finally, every year PTAC donates 1 book to every student at SGR and they’re doing it again this year, so watch for those books to come home later in the year. Thank you, PTAC, for being amazing!
Last Day of School: At the school board meeting tomorrow the district is proposing that the last day of school for students reverts back to Friday, May 26, instead of having students come back for one day on May 30. See the school board agenda on page 35 if interested. Please note that the last day of school on Friday, May 26 is a 2 hour early out day due to MHS graduation that night. Dismissal on that day will be 12:30 pm. We’ll feed all of our kids before dismissing them and wishing them well for the summer.
4th Grade Clap Out: We will host our annual 4th Grade Clap Out on that Friday, May 26 starting at NOON. Students and staff will clap out our 4th graders in the building, and any parents interested in clapping out can do so outside at door 1. Last year our clap out line stretched well into the median between the parent and bus lots, so we’re hoping for a repeat this year!
It’s going to be another awesome week at SGR!
