SGR Families,
It has been great to see so many students walking, biking, and rolling to school the last week or two! Kids are getting fresh air and movement, and then overall the parking lots have been a little calmer. Still busy, no doubt, but better. The early forecast for weather this week looks great, so it’d be awesome to continue seeing kids coming to school the same way. It will also help us stay on track with our activities this week! Some quick notes for the week:
Excel: This is the LAST week of Excel. We’ll have it both Tuesday and Thursday, but then it is done!
4th Grade All City Track Meet: It is scheduled for this Wednesday at MHS and as stated above, the early forecast looks great! SGR tries to wear red this day, so please help your child wear red so we can easily spot them and cheer for them! Parents are welcome to attend, too! We plan on all students busing to/from school that day. However, if you’d like to take your child with you at the conclusion of the meet, please connect with your teacher. We do head counts and don’t want to leave any kids, so if you’re taking them you need to speak with that teacher so they see/hear you and can confirm with you. Thanks!
Kindergarten-3rd Grade Field Day: It is scheduled for this Friday during your child’s typical Specials time! We host this in our big field south of the main parking lot on the east side of the building by door 1, and parents are welcome to attend! Feel free to use both our parent lot and our bus lot for parking. However, if you use the bus lot you HAVE to be gone by 2:20 so we have space for the buses/vans! Brookdale Church also knows we have our Field Day and have graciously offered their lot for use as well.
Library Books: ALL library books are due this FRIDAY, May 19. Please check backpacks, bedrooms, bookshelves, couches, under beds, and anywhere/everywhere else for any books and send them back this week! Thanks!
Student Information Form: Every year we share this OPTIONAL form that any parent can fill out if they’d like to provide us with some information to help guide our student placements next year. As we always say, we DISCOURAGE requesting specific teachers for multiple reasons. However, we love and appreciate any information that you think we might find helpful as we build our rosters. We work closely with our teachers as well, and together we’ll take all information into consideration as we build balanced classrooms.
We have two more weeks to make a difference with your children and then they are yours for the summer! Have an awesome week!
Mr. St. Louis, principal
