SGR Families,
Goodbyes are tough, so instead I’ll just steal from Mrs. Nagel and say, “See Ya!” Words cannot describe how amazing this year has been so we won’t even try. We have all grown so much - students, staff, myself, and all of you, too. Yes, there have been ups and downs throughout the year, but that’s how life works. We grow our most when we make mistakes, face adversity, or fall flat on our faces.
As for me, I want to thank everyone, not just for this year, but for the last 8 years in which I’ve been a principal at SGR. I have loved every minute of it! Well, most minutes - March 2020 when Covid shut us down was tough, but again, that was another growth opportunity for all of us! Some families have only been here a couple of months, while others have been here most or all of the time I’ve been here, and then everyone else is somewhere in the middle. But regardless of how long I’ve known you or your family, I have appreciated the opportunity to do my best to support and guide your kids while they’ve been here. I’m passionate about doing whatever it takes to provide an environment in which your kids feel loved, cared for, respected, and able to be their best selves. The team we have at SGR feels the same and that will remain the same next year when Mrs. Nagel and Mrs. Mix are the principals.
As for the last week of school we just have a handful of notes:
No Excel: Excel was finished last week, so all kids should be leaving at the end of the school day at 2:30.
Early Out on Friday: The last day of school is this Friday and it’s an Early Out across the district due to MHS Graduation that night. Dismissal is 12:30 and buses will leave at 12:38, but no worries, we’ll feed all kids before they leave for the day. Lunch will be chaotic and not at normal times, so please do NOT try to come and eat lunch with your child that day. The parking lot will also be busy and chaotic due to our 4th grade clap out, so if your kids can walk/bike home, we’d strongly encourage it that day. Please have a plan in place so your child knows what they are doing after school.
4th Grade Clap Out: We will host our annual 4th Grade Clap Out on Friday starting at NOON. Students and staff will clap out our 4th graders in the building, and any parents interested in clapping out can do so outside at door 1. Last year our clap out line stretched well into the median between the parent and bus lots, so we’re hoping for a repeat this year!
Brookdale Church: Brookdale continues to be gracious neighbors and allow us the opportunity to use their parking lot as overflow parking throughout the year, and we’ll likely need to take advantage of their hospitality again on the last day of school. Not only that, but they are also providing FREE CAR WASHES in their lot on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Please consider stopping by, your car will appreciate you!
Lost & Found: We’ll have Lost & Found set up in the hallway for the final time this year. Like all of the previous times, we’re going to donate anything left at the end of the day Friday. Thanks!
Thank you again for another AWESOME year at SGR! Have a great summer, and stay safe!
Mr. St. Louis, principal
