The 2021-22 School Year is almost here. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 30. Moorhead Area Public Schools is preparing to welcome E-12 students to the classrooms and the health and safety of Spud staff and students remains a top priority.
The Moorhead School Board approved the MAPS 2021-22 Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan at a special board meeting on Aug. 4. The plan is translated into Arabic and Kurdish.
This plan is based on current guidance and community COVID conditions and is subject to review if conditions change.
Below are a few highlights:
Students will be in-person with a normal school day and class schedule.
Students go back to a 5-day schedule, normal school hours.
Families have the option to enroll their student in online distance learning. Limited spots are available. Check your email for details on this program.
In accordance with guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Department of Health, it is recommended, but not required, that students and staff wear a mask while indoors at school.
Face coverings or masks are required on student transportation in accordance with federal mass transit guidelines.
Face coverings are not recommended when outdoors, with exceptions for larger group settings.
Mask wearing during activities are under the direction of Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) rules.
Regular student meals will continue to be provided at no charge thanks to funding from the US. Department of Agriculture. However, it is still extremely important to fill out the free/reduced meal application to continue to receive discounted services and important school funding.
