SGR Families,
Happy October! Hopefully you all have had many opportunities to soak in this unseasonably warm weather recently, as it felt like summer! It’s a big week for many reasons, so let’s get to it:
Red Ribbon/Homecoming Week: We’re celebrating both Red Ribbon Week and Homecoming this week with some fun activities. This flyer shows what we’re doing each day, and this one minute video explains the history behind Red Ribbon Week. Students should have seen both last week.
Walk-to-School Day: Wednesday, October 6, is National Walk to School Day! We’re encouraging students to walk, bike, run, or even scooter to and from school this day. The early forecast looks great, so we’re hoping to see lots of active kids that day.
PTAC Walk-a-Thon: Thursday, October 7, is our 2nd Annual Walk-a-Thon! We’ll have all kids walking to music in a fun atmosphere on our southeast field for 15 minutes during their recess on Thursday to help raise money for PTAC. Parents are welcome to attend if interested, and anyone can support your child in their walk!
Conferences: Student conferences will be held the week of Oct 18. Please schedule your child’s Parent Teacher Conference online. The link to the PowerPTC conference scheduling software is located within the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Lunch Menu: Like many school districts and restaurants across the nation, we are facing unprecedented disruptions in the food supply chain that will likely cause menu changes with minimal notice. Food manufacturers and distributors have continued to have a shortage of warehouse workers and truck drivers, making it difficult to meet the needs of schools and other customers, which unfortunately has resulted in late or cancelled deliveries, as well as shortages at the time of delivery. Please know that we are working to minimize the amount of changes made and will make every effort to communicate with you and our students. Please talk to your child about the potential for these changes, thanks!
It’s going to be an awesome week!
