SGR Families,
Happy Halloween! If you’re celebrating today by trick or treating, be safe out there tonight! And speaking of safety, we need your help keeping our parking lots safe.
As many of you saw this week, when the weather isn’t great, our traffic in both parking lots increases. Both lots are always fairly full, but they become almost unmanageable in bad weather. We want to get all kids out safely and efficiently, but to do that we need everyone in a car to do a couple of things:
- Please drive slowly
- Please only stop and load along the curbs or in a parking spot
- Please stay off cell phones while driving
- Please keep eyes open and scanning for kids
- Please consider parking across the street
- Please enter and exit the parking lot, rather than trying to circle around. When you do that, traffic is stopped for everyone and no one can move
We’re also working on our safety during recess in a couple of ways. First, we’re focusing on making great choices during recess, which includes keeping hands to self. We’ve noticed that a number of students are playing more aggressively than we’d like, like tackling during football, soccer, tag, etc. We want our kids active and having fun, but we want them to be safe. It’d be great if you could talk with your child about making safe choices when playing during recess. Second, we’re practicing safety by dressing warmly. We go outside every day, unless it’s raining or the temperature is below 0. Please help by making sure any kids you send to school have proper clothing for staying warm and safe outside. Thanks!
Finally, just a heads up for our YMCA families - The Y will be closed on Thursday, November 11. Please make sure you have alternate plans in place for your child ahead of time.
Have a great day and an awesome week!
