Fall Greetings from Ms. Shari!
Our Monthly Theme: WISDOM
This month we are focusing on how having wisdom helps us live our best life.
The next Grandfather Teaching we will be practicing is wisdom.
Everyone has a special gift. Show wisdom by using your gift. Wisdom is gained through experience and knowledge. To have wisdom is to know the difference between right and wrong and to apply these qualities to your daily life.
The beaver is the animal that represents wisdom. The building of a community is entirely dependent on gifts given to each member of the community. These gifts must be utilized for the betterment of the community. In our SGR community, we are practicing how important it is to use calm bodies in the hallways after school in particular. Students can help build our SGR community to be stronger by following our rules to walk and be safe in the hallways. Another place we are focusing on having safe bodies is out on the playground.
The beaver represents that building of community. The beaver’s example of using his special gifts he has received, his sharp teeth for cutting trees and branches which he uses to build dams and lodges expresses this teaching. If the beaver did not use his gifts to build, his teeth would grow and grow ultimately making it impossible for him to sustain himself and eventually will lead to his demise. The beaver knows his gifts and uses them to the best of his abilities. (taken from Mary Cubello and Pauline Weber)
Let’s recognize our individual gifts and apply them to support our SGR community through being safe, respectful, responsible and kind individuals.
