SGR Families,
Wow, it became winter overnight! And on top of the snow we received it’s going to get cold, too, at least for a day. This is a great time to remind families of a couple of items:
- Outdoor Recess: Please dress appropriately for the weather. We go outside in the snow all winter, so kids should have coats, snow pants, hats, boots, gloves/mittens, etc. If you need help with any of these items, please connect with Sheila Stadstad, our school social worker.
- Below Zero Temps: We do stay inside for recess when the temperature drops below 0 Fahrenheit, or when the windchill drops below -10 Fahrenheit. Teachers check the temperature immediately prior to recess, rather than just basing it on the high temp for the day or the temp at the start of the school day. Again, please send your child with warm outdoor clothing in preparation for outdoor recess.
- Snow Etiquette: Making snow people, forts, and other fun snow items are strongly encouraged during recess, as it’s a great way to spend time during outdoor recess. Snowballs and snow fights, however, are not appropriate. Please help us by reminding your child of this expectation, thanks!
- Covid: Unrelated to the weather, but as we’ve been stating, Covid is still out there and we’re asking for your help. Please continue using the attached screener every morning with your children. If they have any symptoms, please call the office and keep them home to monitor those symptoms. If needed, please consider getting them tested for Covid at the Covid Testing Center in Moorhead.
It’s going to be a great week!
