A Message from our Family Engagement Specialist

Hello Families,

Welcome back to school! We hope your winter break was filled with fun and rest and that your family is ready for 2022. Coming back to the daily school schedule can be challenging for students and families alike. Below are a few ideas to help get back into routine:

  • Bedtime- You can help make mornings a little easier by working with your child on their bedtime routine. Often winter break can create later bedtimes so starting back on your child’s regular bedtime schedule can help them feel ready and rested for the next school day.

  • Gather School Materials the Night Before- Packing backpacks, water bottles, and snacks as well as laying out winter gear the night before can help your child get ready independently in the morning and know they have everything they need for the school day.

  • Reading Together- Busy winter break schedules can often mean reading routines are put on pause. Jump back into the habit by finding a time and place to read or finding a new great book or series your child enjoys. This predictable time together allows for opportunities to talk not only about ideas and questions from the story, but also about how your child is and to hear more about their school day.

Families are a child’s first and best teachers. I hope these ideas help your family to jump into a great year in 2022!

Kindly,
