Spring Greetings!
Our Monthly Theme: FINISHING STRONG
WE MADE IT to May but we’re not done yet!
In classrooms this month, we are reviewing all of the lessons we have been working on that will help us be the best versions of ourselves in school, at home and throughout our lives! Continuing to practice these skills will help us finish strong.
Our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons are taught throughout the year by teachers and me. Students learn two lessons each month. One lesson is taught by their teacher and one lesson is taught by me, their school counselor.
The lessons are divided up into four units.
Growth Mindset and Goal Setting
Emotional Management
Empathy and Kindness
Problem Solving
In February and March, students learned and practiced using empathy and kindness to help become better learners and friends. Key concepts from this unit included:
Empathy/Kindness
Think about how YOU would feel in other people’s situations
Use kindness in helpful ways like saying something kind like inviting someone to play with you or sit with you or doing something kind like writing thank you notes to show appreciation for others.
