SGR Families,
Wow, what a whirlwind of a week! Thank goodness it’s the last week of school before we take an extended winter break (unrelated to any weather, right?!?!). Remember, our last day of school this week is Thursday, and then winter break starts on Friday, December 23. We will resume classes on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. We’ll take a break from emailing updates next week, but will return at least briefly the following week. In the meantime, these are our notes this week:
eLearning Days: First, thank you again for your patience and support during eLearning Days last week. There is a lot to consider throughout the district and in the metro area when making these decisions, and it’s not one we take lightly. We prefer to have kids (and staff) at school, but if there is ever a question, we’ll always err on the side of keeping kids safe. We also try to be mindful of how much we’re texting/emailing families, but sometimes at times like that we’ll err on the side of too much instead of not enough. As for eLearning itself, hopefully it went as well or better than was expected. While we’d love to avoid eLearning days in the future, it’s likely we’ll have more this year. If you have any helpful feedback (what worked well, what didn’t work well) please let us know so we can work to improve for the next time. Adapters going home will likely not happen for the reasons we’ve previously mentioned, but beyond that, everything else is on the table!
Absences: It’s the most wonderful time of the year, the time in which we stay inside, spread germs, and all end up with illnesses. Oh joy, ha! Please remember to call the office or go online in PowerSchool to enter any absences. We don’t need specifics, just that your child is ill, or that you’re out of town, or whatever else might be the reason for the absence. Thanks!
Parties and Parking: It’s a fun week of school, with some class parties, gingerbread houses, or whatever else to celebrate winter break. We also have some music programs that we had to reschedule from last week. Given that, it’s entirely possible that our parking lots will be busier than usual. If the weather is decent and your child can walk home from school, it might be a great week for it. As always, make sure you communicate the plan with your child ahead of time, as well as their teacher if needed. Finally, remember the church parking lot is great for overflow, provided they aren’t using it at the time.
We hope that you enjoy the last week of school in 2022, and hope that everyone has an enjoyable winter break! We’ll see you again in 2023!!
