SGR Families,
It’s been a great start to the calendar year 2023. We’re excited to get back and re-establish our routines and procedures for a productive 2nd semester, so thank you for helping us! If you’re anything like us, we’re glad to be back into the structure and routine of school days again after a great winter break. As we start back, we have a couple of notes for the week:
Semester 1 End: Our first semester of school ends this Friday, January 13. We mention that for a couple of reasons. First, it signals the halfway point of the school year, which is hard to believe. Second, it means that our Elementary Progress Reports (EPRs, essentially report cards) will be uploaded into student documents online in the near future. We’re still over a week away from that time, as teachers have to enter and verify all marks on the progress report after the semester ends, but we wanted everyone to be aware that it’s approaching soon. We’ll share out more information once they are available for viewing.
Goal Setting: Along those same lines, January is also when we work with families on updating goals for our students. Again, that’s not happening this week, but will be happening soon and we wanted it on your radar. Our hope is that the two documents (Goal Setting and EPRs) go hand in hand and support each other.
Safety in our Parking Lots: Finally, our parking lots have started to clear up after all the December snow. They aren’t perfect, though, and still have some slippery spots. Therefore, we’re still looking for your help in keep all of our kids safe. Please only drop off or pick up your child along the curb so that they are NOT darting in between cars. Students in those situations generally try to move quick, which puts them at greater risk of slipping and falling. We’d hate for any child to get hurt when it’s easily preventable. Remember, all of our curbs/sidewalks lead to the front door, so please drop off students along any curb in the parking lot.
MLK Jr. Day: There will be NO SCHOOL next Monday, January 16, as it is a PD Day for our teaching staff.
The weather should be fairly decent this week, according to early forecasts, which means lots of time outside! Send your kids with all of their outdoor gear, thanks!
