Principal Message

SGR Families,

Well, it was another tragic end to the Vikings season (or maybe joyful if you’re with one of the other fan bases). Someday our dreams will come true, right?!?! At least here at SGR we’re CRUSHING it and making dreams come true, so that’s great. It’s a busy week, so here are the notes:

  • Elementary Progress Reports (EPRs): As we’ve previously stated, progress reports should be available online this Friday afternoon (unless there are technical issues). Linked is a brief PDF guide to EPRs, and a video that walks through the steps to access them.

  • Goal Setting Sheets: Also as previously mentioned, students will be bringing home mid-year goal setting sheets on Friday, too. Our hope is that you’ll complete and return the goal setting sheet to your child’s teacher next week after you’ve had a chance to view the progress report online.

  • Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs): We’ve had some questions recently regarding PEDs (phones, watches, tablets, etc) at school, so we wanted to mention them briefly. First, we’ve linked the Elementary Student Handbook because it’s a great resource in general (pg 42 or 43 has a couple of PED paragraphs). Because these devices are valuable, many of our teachers offer to store them in locked drawers/cupboards for the day. We will also ask students for devices if they are being used during the day w/o permission. Concerns generally include calling/texting during the school day. If you need to connect with your child during the day, please either call the office or email the teacher.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child and their education, their teachers are a great first point of contact. As principals, we try to build relationships with all children. Their teachers, though, most definitely know them best and would best be able to address your questions and concerns. Thanks, and have an awesome day!
